So, just how does this race work anyway?  You purchase a raffle ticket for $2, 3 for $5 or 10 for $10.  You can purchase them at the festival, the Chamber Office or at several locations throughout town.

Festival workers transfer your raffle ticket number onto a yellow plastic duck.  Duck ticket sales end at 4:00 pm sharp on Saturday, July 10th.

The last ducks are numbered and rushed to Division Street Bridge on the Grand River, where they are put in a duck holding device.  The device is lowered into the water, the ducks are released and they begin their journey down the Grand River to finish line at the Grand River Boat Launch on the Lowell Fairgrounds.

What a sight that is to see over 7000 little yellow duckies coming around the bend.  At the finish line the duck-catching team is in place.  A large pipe is strung across the Grand River in a V formation.  At the tip of the V, a tube is attached and approximately 10 ducks swim in the tube, single file.  The first duck in is the $1000 dollar winner, the next 5 to follow each receive $100.  While the crowd waits with great anticipation for the announcement of the winner, the Duck Catchers assume their position and begin to net the ducks into the boats.  Of course, several try to outsmart our team, but to no avail; they are captured.

You can purchase your tickets at the following locations:

State Farm, Huntington Bank, Fifth Third Bank, Firstbank, Larkin’s Resturant, Back, Water Café, Springrove Variety & the Chamber of Commerce
